Kawasaki Motors Corporation has announced that it will launch a mid-weight, high-performance machine in its famous Ninja range to be called the Ninja ZX-4RR. Incorporating a newly designed engine and frame, the exciting new addition to Kawasaki’s Supersports line. The model is expected in Europe in the Autumn of 2023.
Whether a seasoned rider or new to the joys of Supersport, Ninja ZX-4RR riders will experience the exciting riding pleasure of the "APEX PREDATOR" concept on the racetrack or on the street.
With a redline beyond 15,000 rpm indicating its screaming potential, this engine features racing-inspired technology also found on the Ninja ZX-10R. The high revs deliver a distinctive, exhilarating engine sound characteristic of a high-performance Kawasaki In-Line Four.
The 4.3” all-digital TFT colour instrumentation with selectable display modes (Normal, Circuit) clearly displays the most pertinent information, whether on the street or on the track. Circuit Mode shows the gear position, lap times, and rpm above 10,000 more prominently.
Bluetooth technology built into the instrument panel allows connection to smartphones via the “RIDEOLOGY THE APP” smartphone application, enabling riders to access instrument functions for an enhanced motorcycling experience.
From its twin headlights to its Ninja ZX-10R-inspired taillight, all lighting on the Ninja ZX-4R is LED.
Four integrated riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain or Rider (manual)) make it simple to select a level of traction control and power mode to suit the current riding conditions.
Style meets substance with the Ninja ZX-4R’s high-class styling and high-grade package. Aggressive looks are complemented by premium features like TFT colour instrumentation providing clear information, integrated Riding Modes that link traction control and power modes for easy machine setup, and on the ZX-4RR a quick shifter for fast, simple gear changes.
The ZX-4R’s two ø290 mm front brake discs and radialmount monobloc calipers provide sure stopping power, while also offering an excellent braking feel to inspire confidence both on the track and on the street.
Designed using Kawasaki’s advanced dynamic rigidity analysis, this trellis frame made from high-tensile steel delivers the required balance of strength and chassis flex to achieve the Ninja ZX-4R’s nimble supersport-style handling.
Naturally aggressive riding position (more forwardleaning than the Ninja 400’s, but still slightly relaxed) lets riders take advantage of the Ninja ZX-4R’s nimble handling. The fuel tank feels slim, promoting good contact with the bike, while the shape of the firm seat cushion facilitates rider weight shift during sport riding, and is comfortable for longer rides.
Befitting the most powerful machine in the 400cc class, the Ninja ZX-4R’s aggressive Ninja styling exudes a fierce aura of restrained power and explosive action.
The new 399 cm3 liquid-cooled DOHC In-Line Four engine pushes technological boundaries to comfortably top the 400cc class*. Developed with know-how gained from other Ninja ZX models, the high-performance engine offers class-leading power and a rev range that extends beyond 15,000 min-1.
The Ninja ZX-4R’s ø37 mm inverted fork uses SFFBP internals to offer both racetrack performance and everyday usability while the Horizontal Back-link rear suspension offers a progressive character. Offering increased adjustability, the Ninja ZX-4RR front fork includes an adjustable spring preload.
Kawasaki takes 400cc engine performance to a new level, achieving an unprecedented 57 kW (77 PS) of power. The howl of the engine as it revs beyond 15,000 min-1 adds to rider exhilaration. A quick-revving nature and direct throttle response are complemented by a flexible character that offers strong low to mid-range torque for city riding, as well as screaming high-rpm power ideal for sport or track riding.
Key chassis dimensions (centre of gravity position, swingarm pivot position, engine axis positions, caster angle, etc) were inspired by Kawasaki’s World Superbike Ninja ZX-10RR racer, bringing WorldSBK chassis design thinking to the 400cc class.
Allowing riders to take even greater advantage of the Ninja ZX-4R’s exhilarating engine character, the quick shifter enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and easy deceleration.
Complementing the centrally positioned Ram Air intake, the side Ram Air duct, designed with feedback from the Ninja H2, routes air to the air cleaner box and contributes to stellar performance. Its aggressive look and intake sound add to the screaming In-Line Four experience, and visually identify the bike as one of Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX models.
Ninja ZX-4RR:
In addition to the original Kawasaki Racing Team-inspired colours and "RR" graphics, the rear suspension features Showa's BFRC-lite, the same type used on the Ninja ZX-10R supersport model. This specification allows for a sportier riding experience.

Fiveways Motorcycle Centre LTD is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Fiveways Motorcycle Centre LTD to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.
We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.
Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.
Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
